Parting Ways With Your Wow Account

|

So it’s another day in the sunny cloudy city of Springfield. Birds are chirping, cats are humping, and a suicidal squirrel is attempting to the climb the side of my house to get to a bird feeder my wife setup outside. All is somewhat good in the world until HOLY SHIT MY WOW ACCOUNTS BEEN HACKED!!

Ok, my account isn’t actually hacked, but I hope it got your attention. :) There is a new salvo in the war between wow players and those wonderful guys from China. You know… those guys who farm and steal accounts and generally making our lives hell so we can't get our daily fix of uber pwnage.

Geeon sent word to me this morning about a wonderful email ploy to help you out with your account troubles. Especially those who recently started transferring their accounts to Battle.net. If anyone wants to mess around with these guys, feel free to flood their inbox with any and all info you would like. I’ve also included the email Geeon received so be on the look out and remember Blizzard will NEVER ask for any of this information.

If you would like to reach out and touch these creeps feel free to email them @

I can't believe people actually reply to these kinds of e-mails. Just reading it it's obvious that it didn't come from a US company. The e-mail looks like it was written in Chinese and dropped into Google Translate.

Not to mention you should never give out your passwords to anyone via any medium. (side note: I about flipped when I heard our IT HelpDesk ask for someone's password over the phone)

My friend Richard (Dick) Head over at Advanced Ink sent them a reply. :) I wonder, with how bad their engrish is, if they will actually take it seriously and try to login with the account.

You know, now that I think about it, I could probably get into one of those publicly available botnets and flood that email server with millions of randomly generated bogus emails. :)

Nick Brown said...

True, but if for some reason you got caught "controlling a botnet" we would have to find us another tank for the next few years while the US justice system tries to imprison you for longer than they do most muderers.

On a side note, one of my coworkers came up with an amusing password when he sent one of these to our security team to blackhole the reply-to address.
