I just got done reading an interview that Massively did with a couple of SWTOR developers and a couple interesting facts came out. First off they say that if you play the game in single player mode it will likely feel like you're playing a traditional BioWare game. However, they say that the game will cater to group play very well as well. Unfortunately they're still only talking about groups of 2-3 people it seems so I'm still wondering how this is going to play out.
On another note they have revealed that there will be playable alien races. Not sure how all the voice acting and things are going to affect that however. They did allude to NPC aliens speaking in their native tongue and you get a subtitled translation, however I somewhat doubt they would do the same thing for PC aliens though it would be a more authentic experience if they did.
They also briefly talked about player housing and the differing viewpoints on such a thing. Currently it is not in the plan at the moment. They understand why people like it, but it isn't considered essential to their core gameplay. It might be something added in the future, but definitely won't be in for release.

Wow, ok I'd say I am shocked but....nope. Always said their definition of MMO was pretty loose based on what they were doing. Seems to me it's nothing more than an online subscription 1st person adventure with multiplayer. Based on that info, I think it will still be a fun game, but not a real Star Wars MMO like most people are expecting. More like....glorified multi-player?
The subtitled speech is interesting but I think I would get tired of reading it after awhile. Heck, I would probably turn it and the voice acting off if I could. Voices never sound like I hear them in my head. Yeah, that's right...I hear voices...
I somewhat doubt they would do the same thing for PC aliens though it would be a more buy swtor credits authentic experience if they did.
