The Coming Cataclysm and Advent Knights

|

My fellow Knights,

It's been a while since our unloved and neglected blog has been used. So I wanted to show some love, and communicate with everyone about the next WoW expansion. The consensus among most of us, is new. New adventure, new experience, out with the old, in with the new kind of stuff. What better time to do that, is with WoW: Cataclysm. In the next expansion as most of you already know, Azeroth is getting changed.... DRASTICALLY. Though fan favorite quests will still be there, the rest is getting replaced by new quests and story lines.

This time around we will be starting over. Hello level 1 noob. Granted not everyone HAS to do this, but those that want to are more than welcome to join those of us who do. Not everyone is going to have the ability to create a new character on Doomhammer. Luckily, my reason's to stay on Doomhammer was removed with the advent of Battle.net friends lists. We will be able to chat with those who are on our friends list across faction and server. So the idea is to start on a new/low pop server. Which will be chosen a few weeks before launch. Probably during the events leading up to the launch.

The point of all of this is to get back to our roots. Why we play the game, and to have fun. let me tell you, it was great raiding with you all, but I want to enjoy the game. Hang with my friends, level and experience the game instead of making it a job or chore. We won't be rushing from level 1, to max level what ever this time around. We won't be working to raid as soon as possible. We're going to take our time, and experience the game. From the beginning to possible end. Every instance, every raid in order. Though we won't have 40 players to do Blackwing Lair, or AQ 40. We can go back at higher levels and get them done with fewer players.

Advent Knights, the guild is probably going to be going through something new as well. This time around, I want to try and cultivate a solid guild from the ground up. It may work it may not. Since we are starting out new, I'm taking a new approach to building this guild. We will have some headaches, but it's something I'm willing to try. At the start, we can build our guild. With simple rules, no complicated guild charter, or requirements. At least not until the guild has grown to a certain unset number or age. Anyone can join as long as they aren't jerks, respectful to others in and out of the guild, be helpful to the guild, and don't start drama. Anyone that agrees to that, gets an instant invite. No pressure to raid, no pressure to do anything but have fun and socialize. I am talking to a few people from work about joining us, and will be talking to a few of my friends on Doomhammer into joining us too. If possible, I may transfer one of my characters from Doomhammer to the new server to give us startup funds for the guild creation, bank slots, etc.

Faction, I truly am torn between doing Alliance or Horde. For horde, it can be a truly new experience as I haven't been through most of Azeroth on horde since the original launch. The other half of me wants to play Worgen. After seeing video of what they have done with the Worgen, I really want to play that race more than anything. Most of us feel the same way. So I'm fairly certain we'll be sticking with Alliance.

For me, I'll be playing differently this time around. Before, I always groomed my characters for tanking, or healing. This time around I'm grooming for DPS. As I have never really focused on being that kind of player. So I may go Worgen Rogue. Another part of me is wanting to go for the pinnacle of transformation, and playing a Worgen Druid for the first time....ever. It's funny thinking that not only would be character change into a Worgen, but can also change into a cat, bear, tree, and moonkin. lol I know at this moment that I say this, I could play a Worgen Shadow Priest but could get pigeon holed into being healer again.

Here are the roles that have been mentioned to be playing.
Tanks: Nykk, Kirathis
DPS: Grexis ? I assume Geeon will be this as per usual. :)
Healer: ?

So far here is the roster of those who have mentioned interest in taking part in this endeavor. Please let me know if you know of anyone who wishes to join.
Grexis
Xanthelle
Nykk
Kirathis
Devandra
Goroxx? (if he returns for the expansion?)
Squeanet

Possible inclusion
Sean (co-worker)
Chez
Lost
Mastro
Darchon? (I think he mentioned interest a while back)

I will definitely be tanking this time around. I fell in love with tanking on my paladin, but never really got to do it, always being pigeon-holed into a healing role. I haven't decided on a class yet, but it will probably be a warrior so the same thing doesn't happen again.

Well I had planned on going Worgen hunter but apparently everyone wants me to tank this time around. Hey, it's your funeral.

To be honest I always wanted to try being a tank but never got the chance to get one up to a respectable tank level with the needed gear. The only other class I've wanted to play to high levels is the hunter. I have a mid-level one that was power-leveled and I would like to try one out. The concept in my mind of a Worgen hunter just really appeals to me.

As for me on the tank side, I am torn on what to play should be go the Worgen route. Warrior is the ideal tank for me but druid is also viable. However, I found that I much preferred the caster druid to a feral or healer from previous experience. That being said, I am not so sure two warrior tanks would be ideal. I would much prefer to play a paladin tank but I want to play Worgen...and pally Worgen just are not happening.

Should we decide on the horde, I have every intention of playing a Tauren paladin. I have long been intrigued by the Tauren and I loved their starting area in the past. Being a paladin was a total blast and since moocow pallies are coming...ooooooooh buddy!

I will be leveling the Warlock up to 85 first. Starting over from level 1 does not appeal to me as much, however I will do so to be with you guys. I will just get a later start than y'all. I will NOT EVER Tank, tried it once hated it. Done the healer thing can do that again if needed, Dps well of course thats my favorite spot but that said i can slip into any other role needed at that time EXCEPT TANK. Must play a Worgen , no room on doomhammer unless I class swap one of my horde toons to a Worgen. If they even allow that.

I'm perfectly happy in the healer role. Thus would have no problem playing a Worgen healer (not sure if I'd do druid again tho, is there a Worgen priest?)

I'm also cool with doing horde; I've never gotten very far on the horde stuff.

If I didn't take the healer role, I think i'd want to be a hunter or warlock. Tanking just doesn't cut it for me.

I have no problem playing another Paladin if someone else wants to play a warrior tank. I just don't want to get turned into a healer again because I'm playing a class that can heal. And Kira we're not going to force you to tank if you don't want to. It was a joke (at least on my part).

Yeah, no one is forcing anyone to play a specific class. Play what you want. Kira, if you want to play a hunter, play your hunter. Nykk if you don't want to heal this time around, don't. Honestly, I'm not really sure I care if I heal or not I guess. I just won't be doing it on a paladin this time if that is the case. Which could be fine with me.

Just razzing ya guys. You know I cannot stick with one character anyway so I'll probably have both :-P
